South Africa Squad Announced


 On Tuesday, Cricket South Africa named their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 that is going to take place in Australia. Rassie van der Dussen is still struggling with his finger injury and keeping in mind, South Africa management has not included him in the T20 World Cup squad. On the other end, Temba Bavuma has recuperated completely from the elbow injury and is ready to lead the Proteas in a second World Cup in a row.


CSA Convenor of Selectors Victor Mpitsang said, “This has been a really tough squad to select, simply because we had so many players in excellent form over the past few months and performing at a level that made the selectors sit up and notice them.

As for the squad for three-match ODI series against India, the only addition is Janneman Malan. The series against India will start on September 28 with T20Is.


All 15 players are capped, with 22-year-old Tristan Stubbs receiving his maiden World Cup call up following an impressive outing in the recent T20I series against England. Other notable selections include Rilee Rossouw and Wayne Parnell, with the selectors naming three travelling reserves in Bjorn Fortuin, Marco Jasen and Andile Phehlukwayo.

Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann were notable additions to the Netherlands squad that took on New Zealand at home in the recent T20I series. Scott Edwards will lead the side that has a strong pace attack with Brandon Glover, Timm van der Gugten, Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren.
