England Tour of Pakistan 2022:

England Tour of Pakistan

For the first time in 17 years, England are set to visit Pakistan to play a bumper seven-match T20I series in September-October 2022. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the fixture list for the series 2 August.

The series begins on 20 September in Karachi, where the two sides will play the first four games before the action heads to Lahore for the last three T20Is.

The England cricket team are scheduled to tour Pakistan from September to December 2022 to play three Test matches and seven Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test matches will form part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship.

In November 2021, Tom Harrison, the Chief Executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), flew to Pakistan to repair the relationship between the ECB and the PCB after England's planned tour to Pakistan in October 2021 was cancelled. After positive talks, the original tour itinerary of five T20I matches was increased to seven.

The T20Is are scheduled to be played first, with the Test matches taking place following the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia. In April 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the series would be taking place.

The limited-overs series will be vital to both sides for their preparation ahead of this year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup in October-November. England and Pakistan are the second and third-ranked teams in the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings currently and are also among the favourites for the marquee event later this year in Australia.

Big stars back as Netherlands name T20 World Cup squad

Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann were notable additions to the Netherlands squad that took on New Zealand at home in the recent T20I series. Scott Edwards will lead the side that has a strong pace attack with Brandon Glover, Timm van der Gugten, Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren. Ackermann is also a capable all-rounder who can bowl medium pace. “We have assembled a well balanced squad with an exciting blend of youth and experience for the upcoming T20 World Cup," head coach Ryan Cook said. The experience playing in the Super League will stand the team in good stead and good confidence can be taken from these performances. "We will look to continue the progression that was evident through the summer into the tournament and have some quality preparation planned prior to the event which will help the readiness for the group in both skills and cohesion.” Netherlands had made it to the T20 World Cup in Australia through the T20 World Cup Qualifier in Bulawayo. While the...

Alex Hales Returns in England Team After A long Wait

Alex Hales has made a dramatic return to the England fold having been selected for the T20 World Cup as a replacement for the injured Jonny Bairstow.  The 33-year-old has not featured for his country since a failed recreational drugs test in the summer of the 2019 World Cup led to his banishment from the squad. During his subsequent exile, a “breakdown in trust” was often cited by the captain, Eoin Morgan. But events have now conspired to bring a fresh opening, through Morgan’s retirement in April and the passing the leadership baton to Jos Buttler, Jason Roy’s slump of form and the freak broken leg suffered by Bairstow playing golf last week. Hales has remained among the premium batters on the global T20 circuit and with Rob Key stressing he had “served his time” upon being appointed director of England cricket in April, and a place at the T20 World Cup in Australia this October is now his. Though Key put Hales’ initial omission solely down to cricketing reasons – Bairstow was ...
