Pakistan Clinches the Victory from Afghanistan And Reach The Asia Cup Final:

Asia Cup Final

Pakistan survived a scare and held their nerves to beat Afghanistan by one wicket in a thrilling Super Four match to reach the final of the Asia Cup 2022 and knock India out of the tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, here on Wednesday.

The pressure was on the 19-year old Naseem Shah as the teenager needed at least two boundaries to help Pakistan win the game.

He took on the challenge and whacked the first delivery of the over which was a full toss outside the off stump over the long on boundary for a six to bring back joy and optimism on the Pakistan dugout. With the shot, he reduced the equation to five runs off the last five deliveries.

This victory for Pakistan has closed the doors for both Afghanistan and India to qualify for the final. Having won two games in the Super 4s stage by defeating India and Afghanistan.

Pakistan have advanced to the final and will face Sri Lanka in the final. However before the summit clash, both the teams will meet for the final match in the Super 4s stage that is scheduled to be played on Friday, 9th September. Final of Asia cup will be on 11th September.

During his subsequent exile, a “breakdown in trust” was often cited by the captain, Eoin Morgan. But events have now conspired to bring a fresh opening, through Morgan’s retirement in April and the passing the leadership baton to Jos Buttler, Jason Roy’s slump of form and the freak broken leg suffered by Bairstow playing golf last week. Hales has remained among the premium batters on the global T20 circuit and with Rob Key stressing he had “served his time” upon being appointed director of England cricket in April, and a place at the T20 World Cup in Australia this October is now his. Though Key put Hales’ initial omission solely down to cricketing reasons – Bairstow was ...
